Arrows Meet Target
// March 8th, 2010 // Comics
If you missed last week’s conclusion to James Robinson’s Cry for Justice, you may not be aware that the real story is just the beginning.
The 7-part story pitted a more proactive Justice League team led by Hal Jordan and Oliver Queen against the so-called Anti-Batman, Prometheus. The villain’s plan cost thousands of lives and hit home for the League personally.
Prometheus’ actions have broken the League’s resident Robin Hood duo, leaving Ollie and his adopted son Roy Harper both spiritually and (in Roy’s case) physically broken. We’re about to see a very different side of the Emerald Archer.
This Wednesday sees the first piece of the fall out. The Rise and Fall of the Justice League will see a schism in the JLA. While there are no details so far, the story is clearly a prelude to Green Lantern #31, the beginning of the multi-part Fall of Green Arrow. If you read the end of Cry for Justice, you know that Ollie has been pushed over the edge. Green Arrow has been the moralistic, liberal backbone of the DCU for over 30 years. Now that he’s lost almost everything, there’s no telling what he’ll do next. GA is officially more exciting than he’s been in years.
His adopted son Roy may have an even rougher journey ahead. Justice League: The Rise of Arsenal is a 4-part series that will see him shed the ridiculous Red Arrow persona he’s been saddled with as a result of DC’s dealings with Alex Ross. Prometheus took the red archer’s right arm and his reason for living. J.T. Krul presents the story of a man with truly nothing to lose. The Arrow family has never been more interesting than it is right now and I am so on board! You should be too.
All three books debut this month.

I was bored with Cry for Justice when I started reading issue 6, but somewhere between the beginning of 6 and the end of 7 I was smacked in the face with awesome, and now I’m excited to read rise and fall, and I like waffles
